Job Description:   Provides guidance and assistance to clients on printed materials, displays and presentation materials. Directs the staffing and work flow of the graphics unit and performs related work as required. This position works with Marketing and Communications on maintaining the Brand of the University. This position requires strong supervisory skills necessary to manage employees during daily workplace operations, monitor employee behavior and performance on job functions, and conduct training of new employees. Travel to meet with customers will be required. Travel to seminars, conferences and training on occasion may also be required.



1) Exercise supervisory authority so that applicable labor agreements and plans are equitably administered and employees in the Graphics lab will effectively perform assigned job duties to ensure the university brand is achieved.
-Assess the qualifications of candidates and hire employees to perform job duties to perform assigned job duties in the Graphics lab.
-Hold Staff Meetings daily and uphold departmental deadline management policies
-Assign and schedule work responsibilities and tasks as well as train and direct employees in the execution of job responsibilities.
-Evaluate employee job performance, reward, promote, discipline, suspend and discharge employees based on their job performance.
-Direct the writing of employee position descriptions and approve assigned work tasks.
-Administer applicable labor contracts and/or plans fairly and equitably.
-Mediate and adjust employee grievances according to the requirements of the appropriate contract or other formal University procedure.
-Observe duties and performance by employees in the Graphics lab
-Perform all supervisory tasks in accordance with established equal opportunity / affirmative action, non-harassment, and employee safety policies and procedures.

2) Serve as the project coordinator with customer and Graphics lab staff.

3) Perform design for University Clientele.
-Design ?Branded? publications for university clientele using the latest In-Design and Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator, for printed publications.
-Design and update web pages for University clients as well as maintaining our own websites.
-Store jobs on the Printing Services Storage on the Campus Server
-Scan photos and art work as needed.
-Perform color corrections and alterations to photos to achieve proper reproduction.
-Be the Art Director for the graphics lab projects including web design, and development.

Minimum Qualifications:   KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

-Strong applicable skills, knowledge and abilities to use computer to plate systems, Rip software, computer programs: including but not limited to the following: Adobe Creative Suite Pro, Microsoft office suite, and other programs used in producing and creating high quality graphics and page layouts for the University.
-Strong and applicable skills in designing and maintaining websites, using Dream Weaver, Flash, HTML and other software to achieve branded and functional web sites for the University.
-Must have strong supervisory skills related to the management of employees on a daily basis, which include managing employees during daily workplace operations, monitoring employee behavior and performance on job functions, conducting training of new employees and imposing any necessary commendations or disciplinary actions to ensure employee behavior complies with University and departmental policies. Must be able to handle daily staff issues, including all departmental policies and procedures, including absenteeism, and tardiness.

-Requires a Class D Driver's License: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the a gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:   -Exemplary customer service skills in dealing with clientele.
-Artistic skills in arranging type and graphics in a pleasing manner on a printed piece.
-Ability to create original art work and express ideas visually sufficient to carry out instructions staff, management and/or consultants.
-Good knowledge of correct English, spelling and grammar.
-Ability to take verbal and written direction and interpret needs of clientele.
